Syschecks/Delete Your Account

Delete Your Account

We understand you may want to leave Syschecks. This page explains what happens when you delete your account.

How to Delete Your Account

To delete your account, go to Settings in the web app or mobile app, then select Delete account. You will be asked to re-authenticate with your password and, if two-factor authentication (MFA) is enabled on your account, an authentication code from your authenticator app or a backup code.

What Gets Deleted

When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed:

  • Your user account and all associated profile information
  • Personal organizations (organizations with only you as a member) and all their data, including:
    • All checks and monitoring configurations
    • Historical check results and incident records
    • Notification channels and integrations
  • All of your personal access tokens (API tokens)
  • All push notification tokens registered on your devices
  • All active sessions across all devices

What Gets Retained or Changed

Some data is retained for legal and operational reasons:

  • Audit trail — for GDPR compliance and security purposes, we retain audit logs of your account actions (login, configuration changes, deletion). These logs include your email address to identify the account. This data is kept for 1 year.
  • Shared organization data — if you created checks, playbooks, teams, or other resources in a shared organization (one with other members):
    • The resources themselves are reassigned to your organization's owner so they continue functioning without disruption
    • The organization itself is not deleted; other members retain their access
    • Your membership in that organization is removed

Important: Organization Ownership

If you are the sole owner of a shared organization (an organization with other members), you cannot delete your account until you:

  • Transfer ownership to another member of the organization, or
  • Delete the organization if you no longer need it

This rule protects the organization and its members from being orphaned without an owner.

Problems or Questions?

If you encounter any issues during the deletion process, or if you have questions about what data is associated with your account, please contact us at support@syschecks.com.

Our support team can also assist with exporting your data before deletion if needed (within GDPR data-export rights).
